Clemens von Wedemeyer's Fourth Wall will tour St. Paul St. Gallery, Auckland, Dunedin Public Art Gallery, Dunedin, Palais de Tokyo, Paris, Museo do Chiado MNAC, Lisbon, Paco das Artes, Sao Paolo; a selection of his works will presented in the video lounge of Berlinische Galerie (27.06.–23.07.2012); he will also participate in dOCUMENTA (13) (09.06.-16.09.2012) in Kassel.
Clemens von Wedemeyer
Clemens von Wedemeyer (*1974 in Göttingen) studied Fine Art in Leipzig. Some of his filmic works are narrative (short) films, while others are reflections and experiments about cinema, and a third group are multi-channeled video works. With this practice, Von Wedemeyer moves between art and cinema, but with films of changing forms as they take on a strongly conceptual position with regards to their content. The works deal with group dynamics, power relations and historic layering, which all inform our present lives.
His films were shown in exhibitions and in various festivals. Solo shows were 2009 at the Barbican Centre, London, 2008 at the Centro Galego de Arte Contemporánea (CGAC), Santiago de Compostela, 2006 in Kölnischen Kunstverein. Group shows include: 2008 Revolutions - forms that turn, Sydney Biennale, 2007 Multiplex: Directions in Art, 1970 to Present, the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), New York and Skulptur Projekte Münster 2007, screenings at the internationale film festival in Rotterdam 2009, Cinemateque Paris or Filmmuseum München.
