Nora Bibel was born in Munich in 1971 and has lived in Berlin since 1999 after she graduated from the University of Bielefeld with a Diploma of Photography. Bibel travels internationally for her work as a freelance artist and photographer in the field of portraiture and documentary and also teaches photography in Berlin, becoming a professor 2015. Bibel’s main focus is the interplay and impact of social change and personal fates mostly seen in portrait photography. Although her pictures appear to be quiet, concentrated and precise images of everyday scenes, they are in fact staged moments quasi suspended in time, choreographed by Bibel in collaboration with her chosen subjects. 2006 she became a member of the agency laif. 2011 her book „Heimat – Que Huong“ has been published by Kerber. In the last years she realized several projects in the asian region with the funding of ifa (Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen), VG Bild-Kunst and the Goethe Institut. Her work has been exhibited worldwide in solo and group shows.
