Oliver Hartung (* 1973 in Ruit) studied at the Kunstakademie Stuttgart, the Glasgow School of Art, and the Slade School of Fine Art in London. From 2004 to 2011 he was working as a photographer for the New York Times and from 2007 to 2013 as an artistic associate at the Academy of Fine Arts Leipzig. Hartung lives and works in Berlin and Leipzig.
He received numerous fellowships and prizes, the latest of which, in 2015, is the working fellowship and project support from the Free State Saxony Cultural Foundation. Since 2007, Oliver Hartung has been working on a personal long-term project on the Middle East.
