Uwe Hauenfels
Uwe Hauenfels (1967–2016) was born in Waidhofen an der Ybbs and studied at the Hallstatt School of Woodworking, the HTBLA Master School for Art and Design in Graz, and the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna under Prof. Franz Xaver Ölzant. Extended stays in the USA, Canada, China, and Croatia had a lasting impact on his diverse body of work. In 1996, Hauenfels co-founded the Kunstbank Ferrum association with cultural manager Gerhard Junker, initiating a series of exhibitions and publications. Together with his wife, Theresia Hauenfels, he curated the traveling exhibition "Bauen für die Kunst: Zeitgenössische Architektur in Niederösterreich", which toured multiple European cities. Hauenfels maintained a deep connection to his hometown, Waidhofen an der Ybbs, where he was a founding member of the Pendel association and organized numerous exhibitions.
